Al-Bayan Center for Studies and Planning participated in an international conference held in Paris, France, on the situation of women in Iraq.
Hayam Ali Al-Marhaj, Director of the Women’s Studies Department at Al-Bayan Center, presented a research paper on the challenges facing Iraqi women in the political process and ways to enhance their participation in the public sphere. The conference was organized by the French Center for Studies on Iraq (CFRI) in cooperation with Vision Education, and was held at the French Senate in Paris, under the title: “Iraqi Women between Conformity, resilience, and Emancipation.
The conference was attended by prominent officials and researchers, including Iraqi Ambassador to France Wadih Al-Bati, French Senator Remy Verraud, Minister and Head of the Department of Foreign Relations in the Kurdistan Regional Government Sven Mohsen Dziye, and Deputy Director of the North Africa and Middle East Department at the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs Aurelien Chauvier, in addition to the Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Kurdistan Regional Government. The event also included a group of experts from Iraq, the Kurdistan Region, France, and a number of other countries.
The two-day conference addressed the challenges facing women in the public sphere in Iraq.
