on 14 September Al-Bayan Center for Studies and Planning held a discussion session attended by representatives and members of political parties and currents, officials, heads of think tanks, and specialized academics.
The discussion session was entitled: “Has the democratic system achieved its goals?” It addressed the successes and failures that faced the democratic system after two decades of change in Iraq.
The discussions included accountability and the transfer of power, in addition to the status of women in the political process and the role of minorities.
The discussions also raised the constitutional and legal challenges and the necessary foundations and anchors for the transition from democratic transition to the consolidation of democracy in Iraq.
