Al-Bayan Center for Planning and Studies held a discussion session as part of the project to enhance justice in Iraq under the title: “Commercial Arbitration in Iraq: Reality and Future Prospects”.

Representatives from several companies participated in the session, including Fly Baghdad Airlines, Islamic Advisory Bank, and other companies, as well as academics, legal experts, and investors.

The session aimed to discuss models of commercial disputes between the private sector and the government and the obstacles in the way of formulating a specific law for commercial arbitration in Iraq.

The experts present emphasized the need to strengthen the Iraqi legal system with special laws to settle commercial and investment disputes, as well as to facilitate amicable settlements between investors and the public sector, as the investment law alone cannot encourage foreign investment without considering a comprehensive legal system that works to protect investors.
