The launch came at a ceremony and symposium attended by specialists and interested officials, decision-makers, researchers and academics.
Dr Adnan Burhan Al-Juhaishi, Chairman of the Anti-Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Committee of the House of Representatives, referred to the efforts required to amend legislation and monitor the performance of executive agencies in drug enforcement.
Brigadier General Ziad Khalaf Kati, Director of Research and Studies at the General Directorate of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Affairs of the Ministry of the Interior, referred to the problems faced by the security services in pursuing traffickers and confronting them from the border, as well as dealing with addicts in the post-arrest phase.
Dr Ahmed Ali Al-Tamimi, the author of the new book published by Al-Bayan Center, referred to future visions in the face of the drug trade in Basra, calling for more attention to this file, especially dealing with addicts and developing the country’s potential in the field of treating them in specialized places.
