The Index Legatum Prosperity is an annual ranking developed by the Legatum Institute. The index rankings were launched in 2007 and are based on a variety of factors including wealth, economic growth, quality of life, health, education, and personal well-being. Its purpose is to highlight the strengths and weaknesses of countries to identify the economic choices that must be made to continue building inclusive societies, paving the way for innovation, and enabling people to achieve prosperity.

The index relies on the analysis of (167) countries around the world across (104) different variables. The most prosperous countries in the world enjoy high levels of freedom, safety, security, education, and health. These countries also enjoy healthy natural environments and conditions that allow economic prosperity, such as investment protection, favorable business systems, and good market infrastructure.

The 2020 Prosperity Index measures the extent of prosperity in (167) countries around the world, which together contain (99.4%) of the world’s population, nearly (300) indicators at the country level, grouped into (66) elements focused on policy, and are used to measure Comprehensive and holistic about the current state of prosperity, and how it has changed since 2010 around the world, in addition to tracking the performance of countries to date, the index provides an invaluable framework for countries to assess their strengths and weaknesses as they chart their way through the COVID-19 pandemic, it helps to identify strategic options that must be made to build inclusive societies, open economies and people who have been empowered to achieve greater levels of prosperity for all citizens of those countries.
