Global indicators in various areas are instruments for measuring the status of States, political, security, economic, social, cultural, etc. at the global level; This prompts many States to raise their levels in those indicators, countries at advanced levels in those indicators are making a great effort to sustain that status, knowing that the indicators do not represent abstract figures, it is evidence of their place in the world, which paints their image in the eyes of others and how they deal with it, like other nations of the world, Iraq should seek its place in the indicators of universality to examine the strengths and weaknesses that those indicators set for its global standing and to serve as a guide in strengthening its strengths and addressing its weaknesses.
First: Global Terrorism Index
The Global Terrorism Index (GTI) is a comprehensive study analyzing the impact of terrorism on 163 countries covering 99.7% of the world’s population, one of the most prominent international indicators for monitoring levels of terrorism in each State is the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP), an independent, non-partisan and non-profit think tank dedicated to shifting the world’s focus to peace as a positive, achievable and tangible measure of human well-being and progress.
IEP achieves its objectives by developing new conceptual frameworks for defining peace, providing and measuring peace, revealing business relations, peace, and prosperity, as well as promoting a better understanding of the cultural, economic, and political factors that create peace.
