Friday Prayer Sermon in Imam Hussain’s Holy Shrine

    Sayyid Ahmad Al-Safi

    My brothers, my sisters…

I bring to your attention the following two matters:-

    First Matter:

Certainly, the recovery of all Iraqi territory seized by ISIS terrorist gangs, reconstruction of damaged areas and the return of people to it must constitute a major priority for everyone; first and foremost to the decision-makers in the Iraqi government. We thank the Almighty Allah that over the past few months, significant progress has been witnessed in the liberalisation of many areas, which was under the control and influence of terrorists, all due to the efforts and sacrifices of our dear fighters from the Army and federal police, volunteers and sons of tribes and others. Today, these heroes remain engaged in fierce battles to liberate the rest of the city of Ramadi, as they face an oppressive enemy who takes into no account the slightest morals in its war against them; by preventing families and innocent civilians from leaving the city and exploiting their forced presence as human shields to protect themselves, which complicates the mission of our forces to the liberation of the city. We affirm to our dear fighters to take all possible precautions to prevent any harm to innocent residents and protect them from all the risks they face. We raised our hands in modesty to Allah The Almighty asking Him to bless our heroic fighters with an astounding victory, to grant the souls of our innocent martyrs peace and bless their wounded with wellbeing.

    Second matter:

In these difficult circumstances in which large segments of the security forces are preoccupied with fighting the ISIS gangs and seek to protect citizens from the risks of terrorists, who continue to target innocent civilians with explosive devices, car bombs and other means, we witness other criminal gangs and undisciplined groups who carry out kidnappings, looting and killings, targeting citizens and residents disturbing by that the security and stability in the country. We also witness some of the reoccurring and unfortunate tribal clashes which take place in some provinces which costs many innocent lives. In addition to these unfortunate phenomena’s, some recent kidnappings for political purposes, including what recently occurred with the abduction of hunters who entered the country legally.

Such practices are not consistent with religious and legal standards and are incompatible with the noble ethics of Iraqis which only bring harm to the reputation of their country. Such acts are certainly denounced. We demand the release of all abductees, whoever they may be, as we also renew our call to the Iraqi government and all political forces to support the security forces in all their efforts in order to protect the country and do what they can to put an end to all illegal practices, particularly those which disturb the peace and threatens the safety of citizens, residents and visitors.

We ask Allah to spread security throughout our country and reconcile with our brothers soon in the expulsion of the biggest plague, ISIS.
