On 18-19 December 2015 a training workshop was organised by Al-Bayan Center in Baghdad titled ‘Publishing in international academic journals: Skills and style’ which was facilitated by Dr Akeel Abbas from the American University of Iraq – Sulaimani. The workshop focused on improving skills for research and publication, especially to standards required by international journals, and addressed issues such as style, formatting, sourcing, access to databases, methodology, and increasing readability.
Several academics and students from Iraqi universities participated in the workshop and all gave very positive feedback on the training they received, and called for increasing such workshops and expanding participation in them.
